Oxford University, founded in 1096, is widely regarded as the oldest university in the English-speaking world and has consistently held a leading position in global education and research. Over centuries, it has maintained its reputation as one of Britain’s and the world’s foremost academic institutions.

Today, Oxford is an international academic community of around 21,000 students representing 140 countries. Its teaching model is distinctive: education is built around a tutorial system based on close supervision and mentoring, ensuring strong individual academic support. Programmes are interdisciplinary, combining theory with practical skills and preparing graduates for effective professional work in a modern global environment.

Oxford regularly ranks at the top of international league tables and placed first in the Times Higher Education global and European rankings in 2017–2019. International students account for 43% of the student body, exceeding 10,000 people. Admission is highly competitive: in 2017, more than 20,000 applicants competed for 3,200 undergraduate places. Among its alumni are 28 British prime ministers, 30 world political leaders, 55 Nobel Prize winners and 120 Olympic medalists.

Student life extends well beyond academics. The university offers extensive sports, cultural and recreational opportunities, along with a flexible daily schedule shaped by individual programmes. Accommodation is available in college residences or private apartments, while campus facilities include world-famous libraries, museums, research centres and sports complexes set within historic parks and gardens.

Applications are submitted through UCAS by 15 October and require strong academic results, English proficiency, entrance exams, a motivation letter and an interview. Each year, Oxford allocates over £9 million in financial aid, including scholarships available to international students.
