Reddam House School Berkshire is an independent co-educational boarding and day school located in Wokingham, England. Founded in 1827 as the Royal Merchant Navy School, it was originally created to educate children of seafarers and later moved to its current Berkshire campus in 1921. Today, the school welcomes around 490 students aged 3 to 18, with teaching delivered in English through a blended academic model. Most pupils attend as day students, while about 50 live on campus.
The school offers flexible boarding options, including full, weekly and extended-day formats, as well as short-term and emergency accommodation. Boarding students live in age-appropriate single- or shared rooms and receive three balanced meals daily, with dietary needs accommodated when required. Reddam House is affiliated with the British Boarding School Association and SHMIS and has received strong evaluations from the Independent Schools Inspectorate, including “Excellent” ratings for care and education quality.
Academically, the school follows British national programmes, preparing students for GCSE and A-Level examinations. Results are consistently high: over 90% of GCSE grades are C or above, and A-Level graduates achieve strong average scores, with most progressing directly to university. Approximately three quarters of university entrants attend Russell Group institutions.
Student life is rich in creative, athletic and extracurricular opportunities. Music, drama and sport play a central role, alongside more than 100 clubs covering arts, technology and outdoor activities. The 250-acre campus includes historic buildings, sports facilities, performance spaces and extensive green areas. Scholarships are available for students demonstrating outstanding academic, artistic, sporting or creative achievement.
